Moving watercolor painting of many miners on strike outside their plant. Likely depicts a scene from the infamous Bituminous Coal Strike of 1977-78. The men are dressed in coats and miners hats, lunch bucket in hand, and vigilantly waiting. Painted by Kurt Sala, a well known Chicago Post-War and Modern artist.  Signed and dated lower right, Sala 78. Original label from the art department that purchased it and other pieces directly from the artist dates it to 1978 with the title of “The Workers: Men in the Mines (Contract or Crisis). Measures overall 38.25in x 28.25in. Excellent vintage condition.
