Eye catching hand carved wood panel wall sculpture by acclaimed Cape Cod WPA artist Vernon B. Smith (1894-1969). Abstracted flowing composition carved out of a single piece of wood, hand painted and signed lower right. Circa 1930s. Have this displayed horizontally with the artist signature lined up properly on the bottom but there is a hanging bracket on the back to display this piece vertically. Measures overall 42in x 18in x 1in deep. Good vintage condition, a few light touched up nicks and dings, four of the protruding areas have small sections that each look like it was broken off and repaired, all as pictured.
